Prayer tables for January classrooms.

I can think of two effective directions for this month’s prayer table.  First, we’re still in the Christmas season, so if you held off using a full nativity set for December’s prayer table, this could be a good time to do it.  Some of your students may be surprised to see a Christmas decoration used, but that just presents a great opportunity to remind them that we’re still celebrating Christmas.  In fact, priests wear white through the Solemnity of the Baptism of the Lord on January 12.  By the time your class meets, it’s very close to Epiphany so be sure to include the Three Wise Men in your display.

The other direction would be to introduce this month’s theme with your prayer table art.  We’re studying the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and will be spending time in some guided Eucharistic adoration.  To introduce that purpose, this piece would be an ideal addition to your prayer table.  (You can find a higher resolution version here.)
