Now that Easter has officially launched, we’re going to learn about it. First of all, the Resurrection of Jesus is critical to everything we believe.  In 1 Corinthians 15:13-14 Paul said that if there is no resurrection, then Christ has not been raised.  If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and our faith is in vain.  That’s a pretty clear statement!

Jesus really wanted His followers to get this right so He appeared all over the place: locked rooms, open fields, along the roadside, by the sea …  Paul even tells us that Jesus was seen by more than 500 other people.  Truly, He is risen!  Jesus appeared over and over again because (1) it is so hard to believe and (2) because it is so important that we get it right.

There are two activities in this lesson.  Take a look at the Appearing Activity page in advance as it requires a little preparation.  (This would be a good job to pass off to a teen or older kid in your family.)

The main activity is the Resurrection Appearances book, and like most everything we give you, feel free to tailor it to your family’s needs.  The lesson suggests you do it in one sitting, but we know it will work better for many (if not most) families to break up all the Bible stories into several sittings; perhaps even a couple weeks worth of breakfast or bedtime reading.  Easter is long, so feel free to spread out the lesson!

The other adaptation I’d recommend is cutting out all the Jesus figures ahead of time if you think that may be an unnecessary challenge for your younger kids.
