An Iconostasis

These are a few photos I took years ago while on a visit to a Ukrainian church.  You might want to refer back to Matt’s informative post on the purpose of this beautiful tradition.

"When the Holy Doors of the iconostasis are open, one knows that heaven is open and the barrier between heaven and earth has temporarily passed away." Above the Holy Doors (aka Royal Doors), you'll see an image of the Mystical Supper where Jesus first distributed the Eucharist to His disciples. Only a priest can enter through the Holy Doors.
On the left side of the Holy Doors is an icon of the Mother of God. To the left of her you can see a smaller door called the Deacon's Door. Those who serve at Mass enter and exit through these doors.

To the left (of Mary) and the right (of Christ) and on the upper levels you’ll typically see many icons of other saints and feasts of the liturgical year.  These sacramentals are truly a feast for the eyes and give the congregation  endless inspiration for meditative prayer.

On the right side of the Holy Doors you'll find an image of Christ.
