Now that you’ve spent some time helping your kids focus on the very personal meaning of their Baptisms, turn their gaze outward to those other significant people who were part of the day!
In almost every case there was an ordained minister present at the Baptism. If you have a way to get in contact with this priest or deacon, consider sending him a thank you note. It can be as simple as “thank you for your part in this amazing day,” or as complex as a letter on your spiritual growth. I don’t know of a single priest who would not appreciate hearing that his ministry made a difference in your life.
If you don’t know how to contact him, make a point of adding his name to your prayer intentions of the day.
Your godparents were the other significant people who were part of your baptism. Spend some time thinking about their influence in your life, and thank them! If (due to a move or other circumstances) they are no longer a part of your life, be sure to pray for them and thank God for the example of faith they were to your parents.
