Welcome to the third month of Family Formation FOUNDATIONS!
Last month we took a look at the life of Jesus: some things about his life, and why He came, and we talked about how can we even know He’s real? I hope your family was blessed by these conversations!
God never gives up on us, so even after our first parents, Adam and Eve, failed to trust in His love He put a plan into motion to rescue us. Even though His perfect world was broken, (and even though we continue to break it every time we sin) God still loves us no matter what, and he sent His son, Jesus to rescue us – all of us.
Our original Family Formation pastor, Father Tim Nolan, used to jokingly tell kids that if you’re ever in a Family Formation class and the teacher calls on you to answer a question (and you’re not sure of the answer), just confidently say “Jesus!”
The points being these:
- Jesus is the center of everything. The Bible describes Him as being the first and the last, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. (Rev 22: 13-15) Another official Church document says that the whole goal of literally everything we do in any religious ed program is to grow toward intimate love with Jesus. That’s it. No matter what we teach, the goal is to love Jesus more.
- Second, we love to talk about Jesus. Growing closer to Him is the answer to whatever ails us. Jesus is the answer.
So this month (by now you’re not surprised to hear) we’re going to talk about Jesus. Technically, we’re learning about prayer, service, and the value of every day routine growth in holiness, but we can also describe those things as living like Jesus, loving like Jesus, and praying like Jesus. We hope your family is blessed by these topics!

Lesson Notes are a quick overview to go with each of the Home Lessons. You’ll find Notes for Home Lesson 3-1 here, Home Lesson 3-2 here, and Home Lesson 3-3 here.
