In the second lesson, you’re going to learn more about service and how when we serve one another we’re loving according to the example Jesus gave us.
Why did he wash his disciples’ feet? To show that we need to put others first. And again, there are endless opportunities to practice this at home.
One of our suggested activities is to do secret acts of service for one another and, if you’d like, leave a little note. We have some little cards that will serve that purpose. (At this time of year you could turn this into a kind of family Secret Santa thing with acts of service as the focus instead of gift giving.)
And finally, Pope Francis has some very, very practical advice for bring peace into your home – 3 key phrases that are so important, he was quoted as saying he would like to see them written above the doorway of every home so they are always before us:
- “Please” brings trust and respect. It reminds us to be polite and to defer to others.
- “Thank you” shows our gratitude and appreciation.
- “I’m sorry” shows humility and brings healing to difficult situations.
