Lesson Notes: The Eucharist

This lesson is on the Eucharist, and the belief that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist is one of the central beliefs that unifies all Catholics.

Jesus promised to be with us always (Mt 28:18-20) and that He would not leave us to fend for ourselves. But HOW was that going to happen?  Read what he said at the Last Supper to find out:   He said, this is my Body/this is my Blood/I will be with you always.

Jesus eventually went back to heaven, but He left us His Body and Blood.  Think about it: Is your body here? Is your blood here?  If the answer is yes, then you are REALLY here. That’s the only option. He is really and truly with us, just as promised!

This is a truth that the Catholic Church believed and taught from her very beginning.

As you’re going through this lesson, you’ll be exploring the topic using who, how, where, why, what, and when questions, and we have some pictures your kids can cut out and put in the proper place as you find the answers in the lesson.

And we have a final simple craft reminding us that what we see in the Eucharist is bread, but what is really there is the True Presence of Jesus, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.
