The One Who Has Hope Lives Differently

Hope {Spes) is portrayed as receiving the crown of eternal life in heaven from God the Father.

This week’s Family Formation lesson on Hope is a perfect transition between the somber tone of November and the fulfillment of the promise we celebrate with the birth of Christ.  The Holy Father wrote:

“… a distinguishing mark of Christians [is] the fact that they have a future: it is not that they know the details of what awaits them, but they know in general terms that their life will not end in emptiness.   The one who has hope lives differently; the one who hopes has been granted the gift of a new life.” (Spe Salvi, 2)

It’s easy to see the beginnings of this gift as we move into the season of Advent.   In an amazing and mysterious way, the gift of the Incarnation tells us just how much God loves us and how much He wants us to spend our eternal future with Him!  As you’re doing this lesson with your children, take time to share your trust in God’s infinite love and your treasured hope that one day your entire family will worship Him together in heaven.
