One of the suggested classroom games for March is Stop/Go: The Our Father. In the midst of as much activity as classroom space will allow, students were also able to learn some of the meaning behind all those phrases we repeat so often:
“hallowed by Thy name”
“give us our daily bread”
“forgive us our tresspasses”
It’s great (I might even argue essential) for kids to know this prayer, but until they begin to understand these important concepts, they could just as well be praying with the 3-year-old who said “Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name.” (Cute, but there’s definitely room for growth!)
Ask your kids what they learned about the Lord’s Prayer in their class time this month, and K, 1, and 3rd graders can review with the booklet they brought home from class, My Our Father Booklet.
