Abundant blessings

Good news from a new Family Formation parish:

The Lord blessed our efforts abundantly with our “kick off” the first Wednesday in September.  We had more families who registered who registered for Family Formation than what we have had register in the past!  We received many graces that evening.  [Our priest] was glowing!  [He] so wanted for our parish family to accept this new way of life – and they did.  We met as a Core Team the following evening and everyone shared the many graces each had received.  We realize we cannot sit back and say “good job,” but will continue to pray, continue to listen to God and the directions He wants us to go, and continue to support all who involved in this new way of life.

  1. Does every parish that does Family Formation have a Core Team. This is my first year and I do not have a Core Team, but I can definitely see the advantages.

  2. It’s a great support system, but can take different forms and start out really small. You might want to identify one or two people in your parish who would be willing to specifically pray for the needs of your program. Your part of this relationship would be to pass on regular prayer needs and update them on the Lord’s answers.

Obviously, this isn’t quite the same as having a group who’s willing to help and brainstorm, but if I had to choose between the two, the prayer support is lots more important. The first hour of all our core meetings is always spent in our chapel in prayer, and the next 30-45 minutes is spent talking about what we may have heard during that time, and identifying specific prayer needs for the upcoming month.
