“Getting More” Out of Mass

From his recent pastoral letter entitled The Sacred Liturgy as the splendor of God’s eternal Glory:

Here, I would like to pick up on a suggestion I recently heard from the Australian born Matthew Kelly, author of Rediscovering Catholicism.  Kelly suggests that every Catholic ought to bring a journal to Mass which has inscribed on the cover, “What’s the one thing I need to do today to be a better person?”  He guarantees that if we have that single focus in mind as Mass begins, we will discover the joy and meaning that lies at the heart of the Eucharist.  I think he’s right.  I suggest we try it out.
