I always feel like I should be a journaler, but can never quite pull it off. Anyway, for those of you who are, or those who have more self-discipline than I do in that area, these may be great choices for you:
- Title: Every Sacred Sunday
- Full Text (sort of)
- Protestant, Catholic, Good for Either
- Recommended Ages: Adults
- Pros:
- Technically a Mass Journal, this book contains the lectionary text for a year’s worth of Sunday readings.
- The one pictured is from 2017-18, their first year in production. If I recall correctly, the Kickstarter for publication exceeded the goal on its first day. People loved the idea of being more engaged with the Word of God at Mass!
- It’s a beautiful book – hardcover, ribbon bookmark, pleasant font and plenty of room to write homily notes, prayer intentions, etc.
- Notes: Each edition starts with the new Liturgical Year (yep, Advent), so order yours today! https://everysacredsunday.com/
- Title: The Catholic Journaling Bible
- Publisher: Blessed is She/Our Sunday Visitor
- Full Text (NAB)
- Protestant, Catholic, Good for Either
- Recommended Ages: Adults and teens
- Pros:
- Very sturdy – should be good for many years of reading and journaling
- LOTS of room on every page to write study notes, journal, doodle, etc.
- Cons:
- It’s heavy, but that’s how you get all that journaling room
- Notes:
- I know of someone who was getting this for her daughter’s Confirmation gift. That seems perfect to me!
I had the Every Sacred Sunday Mass journal last year and I LOVED it! I helped me focus at mass and it forced me to read the readings and listen to an online homily if I missed mass due to being sick. I have the bible journal as well and I agree it’s big and heavy and the font can be kind of small (that is what others have said). But I do enjoy journaling and doing art in my bible.
