Open your packet!

It seems almost too obvious to state, but don’t forget the resources we’ve included in your packet to help you memorize the Ten Commandments.  One of the most effective things you can do is to simply post each month’s memory verse sheet in a visible place.  My son liked to tape verses to the wall next to his bed and review them just before going to sleep each night.  I like to put short memorization pieces in the corner of my bathroom mirror on in a slide-in plastic frame on our prayer table.  Whatever place you choose, make sure it’s someplace you see as part of your daily routine for maximum effectiveness.

You’ll also want to pull out this year’s memory verse CD and listen to it often.  We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating:  setting just about anything to music will help you on a couple levels.  First of all, you’ll memorize it quicker and it’ll be more fun.  Second, the music is a trigger that will help you recall the words.  Things set to music will stay in your long-term memory and will be easy to recall far into the future.
