Did you have fun with the Sovereignty! game included in May’s Home Lesson on Jesus Christ, the Son? If so, try playing it again sometime this summer. There are questions for students at multiple levels and playing again will help you remember some basic facts about the life of Christ even better.
The goal of this activity is not to produce a family full of Catholic Quiz Bowl winners (although that would be a fun by-product, wouldn’t it?), but the real goal can be found in Pope John Paul II’s document on catechesis (Catechesi Tradendae), paragraph 80:
Accordingly, the definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ: only He can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity.
The more we learn about the facts of the Faith, the better our appreciation becomes for the intricate details of God’s plan for salvation!
Sovereignty! would be a fun rainy-day game and would work well as a car game too.
