  • Title: The Action Bible
  • Publisher: David C Cook Publishing
  • Full Text or Bible Stories – Graphic Novel
  • Protestant, Catholic, Good for Either
  • Recommended Ages: 8-12 year olds
  • Pros:
    • The engaging format would help kids become familiar with basic Bible stories
    • Dramatic images
    • Durable hardcover
  • Cons: It seems like it would be outgrown quickly
  • Notes: This style is definitely not my personal favorite, but I’m clearly not the target audience.  I had it at home over the Thanksgiving holiday and my 8-year-old grandson burned through most of the 700+ pages in that short time.

  • Full Text or Bible Stories – Graphic Novel
  • Protestant, Catholic, Good for Either
  • Recommended Ages: 8-12 year olds
  • Pros:
    • Same engaging format
    • Durable hardcover
    • Holy Heroes has a much more extensive review of this Bible, including an endorsement from Archbishop Fulton Sheen who says “This picture Bible for all ages is an excellent introduction to those who do not know the Bible and an excellent review for those who do.”
  • Cons: Same as above

Sue Klejeski and her husband were searching for a better method of passing on the Faith when they stumbled onto the newly-formed Family Formation program at the Church of Saint Paul. In the years since then, she’s been surprised to see how God wants to use her, she’s wondered why she wasted the first decades of her life as a wishy-washy Catholic, she’s learned tons of Catholic trivia, and she’s learned that none of it is trivial in God's amazing, intricate plan. Sue has presented Family Formation to parishes and professional conferences, does a little bit of everything with her parish program, and loves to help parents more effectively teach their own children. She knows from first-hand experience in teaching her own five children that Family Formation works.
