Why isn’t Father wearing purple today?

Today is Saint Joseph’s day!
A solemnity is the highest ranking feast day. It commemorates an event in the life of Jesus or Mary, or celebrates a Saint who is important for the Universal Church. The Mass of a solemnity has proper readings and the Gloria and Creed are recited, even if we’re in the middle of Lent.
Which brings me to the next point. A solemnity is a day of celebration for the whole Church and it is okay to suspend your regular Lenten fasting for a bit. I recommend dessert, but I’ll bet you have some ideas that are even better!
Saint Joseph, pray for our families!
