On June 24th, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, a special feast honoring the birth of the one who was chosen to prepare the way for Jesus.
John the Baptist was known for his courage and his bold preaching, calling people to turn their hearts back to God and prepare for the coming of the Lord. But beneath his fearless message was a deep humility. John recognized that his mission was not about himself, saying he was not even worthy to loosen the straps of Jesus’ sandals.
His life reminds us what it means to boldly follow God while remaining humble and faithful, a lesson worth sharing with your family.
John is also famously remembered for his simple diet of “locusts and wild honey.” So, what better way to celebrate his feast day than with a fun family treat inspired by his story? Gather your kids in the kitchen and make a Grasshopper Milkshake together!
